At Dovat Architects, looking beyond borders is in our DNA. Since our founding in 2006, we have worked with multinational companies that challenge us to think globally, adapt to different workflows, and seamlessly integrate into diverse teams. Our experience includes collaborations with Merck (Germany), McKinsey (UK), MercadoLibre (Argentina), SmartFit (Brazil), Airbus (France), and many others—managing projects across different scales and cultural landscapes.
With nearly two decades of expertise in corporate, commercial and educational architecture, we have consistently delivered high-end, world class solutions. But in 2020, as the world paused, we had a rare moment of reflection—an opportunity to reassess our purpose. As global activity slowed, nature responded instantly: clearer skies, cleaner waters, and a striking reduction in pollution. The message was undeniable—our industry has an enormous impact on the planet, and we had a responsibility to be part of the solution.
That realization led us to rethink not just what we design, but how. We sought materials that could significantly reduce architecture’s carbon footprint while maintaining aesthetics, durability, and efficiency. That’s when we turned to mass timber—a breakthrough in sustainable construction that enables smarter, faster building with substantial CO₂ emission reductions.
This shift wasn’t just a business decision; it was personal. To test our vision, we designed and built a mass timber residence—a real-world experiment that proved how this approach could balance efficiency, comfort, and environmental responsibility. The project earned us the 2023 National Energy Efficiency Award in the Building category, granted by the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining of Uruguay. More importantly, it reinforced our belief: this is the future of architecture.
Today, Dovat Architects is committed to reducing the environmental impact of the built environment. From our Latin American hub, we provide expert BIM and architectural design support to firms across the U.S. and beyond, helping them scale seamlessly, meet deadlines, and maximize efficiency. We understand how to integrate into global teams, ensuring that projects are delivered with technical excellence, innovation, and sustainability at their core.
We are deeply committed to continuous learning and growth. Every year, we dedicate 10% of our budget to exploring new approaches, visiting works of innovation, and engaging with colleagues worldwide. This dedication keeps us at the forefront of sustainable design and drives our evolution as architects.
At Dovat Architects, we see design and sustainability as two sides of the same coin. Great design isn't just about aesthetics or function—it's about creating spaces that have a positive, lasting impact on the world around us.
